Our house is nearly 50 years old, and some parts of it weren't very well maintained. For instance, the grout in between the tiles of the master shower completely disappeared. I caulked some of the bigger gaps, but it wasn't enough to keep the drywall from deteriorating and the wall getting a hole knocked in it. So we talked to a few people who really, REALLY wanted to help us fix up our shower, figured out how to get a home improvement loan, and ended up with this:
Much nicer than a wall with a hole in it, let me assure you.

Very nice!
As a former owner of a hole in a shower wall, I can sympathize. My husband"s solution was to tape plastic around the hole. Finally after a year, he put in a new shower surround.
