I Don't Even Know Where to Begin

Updates
Mat had his last day at the daycare on Friday. They claim they'll miss him, and proved their claims with flowers, four pecan pies, and a gift card to Barnes & Noble. I think they're just sad they have to find someone else to open the building at six in the morning.

But tomorrow, Mat starts his internship. This is crucial, as he needs the hours to certify, license, and graduate. However, it's an internship. Unpaid. Pile of student loans, here we come! Whee!

Karie and the girls are plugging along. The girls have nearly recovered from their colds and Afton had been asking to sit on the potty. Sometimes she actually tinkles in it! Quite fabulous. In an effort to ditch the diaper expense, Mat's going to potty-train her next week. We're borrowing the Toilet Training in Less Than a Day book from Karie's mom, who swears it worked with both of Karie's brothers. We'll see if it works on 2-year-old girls....

Wish us luck!

Pictures
First, this is where I found Annika this morning when I emerged from my room:

I didn't know whether to laugh or to punish her. So I took a picture. For the record, she's not even quite sure how she got up into her bathroom sink. I really don't want to know. It's better for my gray hair count that way.

Now here we have an object of contention:

Afton declares that my t-shirt here (rightfully earned by Mat, not me. It's a needle thing) is a crying monkey. Annika says it's a momma. If you look closely at the biker's face, you can see the white highlight on it. This is what Afton thinks the tears are. Annika thinks I exercize on a regular basis. Ha!

And here's the silliness from last Sunday:
Annika bouncing on the couch.

Daddy doing "up-downs" (similar to bench presses, but with small ticklish children involved. It's a creative sport).

And Afton mugging for the camera. She does this a lot. They both do.

Here is the audio I was trying to post last week.
Don't mind the dark picture--our digital camera gets VERY picky about lighting when we're taking video with it. But it's the laughter that's the best.

Last but not least, we have last week's "Isms"!
Annika-isms
Karie: Annika, what is today?
Annika: Monday!
Karie: What do we have on Mondays?
Annika: Hamily Fome Evening!

Afton-isms
Karie: What do we do with rolling pins?
Afton (with a sly grin): Brush teeth!

Ha! Brush teeth with rolling pins. THAT'S why I get those *&^% cavities!

Oh, good luck with training. We did well around here except for the BMs. Argh! There's always something, isn't there?

Funny Annika! Was she sleep walking? I love the laughs too!

Surprisingly, she was NOT sleepwalking. Just playing on her own. Crazy kid.

Congrats to Matt starting his internship! Ryan's quitting his job in about 2 weeks to start grad school--so we're right there in the "student loans out the wazoo" boat with you.

I hope potty training goes well. I only WISH Kallie would think it was interesting to tinkle on the potty. Oh well--hopefully only another few months of 2 kids in diapers...
