1. Saturday was great for Annika and me. We went to the mall, where I tried to find some new t-shirts, as mine are wearing a bit thin in the collar. No luck. We ate at Panda Express, as far from the Radio Disney brouhaha as possible, then went to see Meet the Robinsons. Not bad, and Annika seemed to enjoy it. On the way home we tried one more store and found one shirt. We also bought some frozen pizza and ice cream sandwiches.
2. The reason we bought the pizza and dessert was for comfort. Mat and Afton had a less than stellar time with the potty-training. By the end, Afton was screaming every time Mat led her into the bathroom. So rather than make using the potty a traumatic experience, Mat called a halt.
3. As a result, we had a great family night, watching movies and eating picnic-style in the living room.
4. We've decided to wait six months, until Afton's a little more capable of handling her pants and sensing that she needs to urinate, to try again.
5. It's over 110 degrees for the high again today. And yet people keep moving TO Phoenix. We don't get it.
6. Mat started classes yesterday. It's looking like his internship class and his stats class will be easy, so he'll really only have three classes to worry about. Same with next semester.
7. The end is in sight! Well, at least for Mat.
8. We have a surfeit of junk food in the house, ostensibly for the potty training. However, most of it won't last six months. Someone's gotta eat it....
9. In our excitement to move to Lubbock, we've been researching amenities. There are two Targets, one Joann's, one Michaels, and no Fry's/Krogers! I'll have to figure out where to buy groceries again.
10. There's also a huge apple orchard just outside of Lubbock that puts on a couple of festivals a year. We'll be visiting at least once, for the children.
11. Did you know Buddy Holly was from Lubbock? Lubbock certainly knows it!
12. Whenever Afton hears an unfamiliar sound, she'll cup her hand in front of her ear and say "What's that sound, Momma?" Thank you, PBS Kids, for teaching her investigative skills.
13. Mat taught the girls about the three states of water yesterday. They took an icecube and put it on the sidewalk and watched it melt for a while, then brought it in and boiled it until it became steam. Annika was very fascinated. As the lesson was spawned by her questions, I'm glad she was paying attention.

What?!?!? No Fry's?!?!? Oh, wait, I've been living without that store for a couple of years...nevermind.
You know...come to think about it some more. I was thinking about Fry's Electronics store. Is there a Fry's grocery store?
Yes, there is a Fry's grocery store. In Utah, it's Smith's. In Texas, it's Kroger. All the same corporation. Price-wise, they seem to be the Target of food retailers--good quality, not too expensive.
*sigh*
Though what I really miss is WinCo. Did you shop at WinCo when you lived in Roseville?
I'm not sure I know what the word "sufeit" means. I mean I don't have an MA in Enlish or anything, so of course I wouldn't know..LOL! Sorry about the potty training. That would have been so slick to have them both out of diapers! Better luck next time!
don't worry, I had no idea what it meant either, and I live with her! But then, I hear a lot of words that I've never heard in everyday converstaion before living in this house is like learning a whole side of the english language.
No...I was too good to shop at WinCo...oh wait...nevermind. I've shopped there before. I remember getting the motorized cart to wheel myself around when I was in that leg cast.
Man, is EVERYONE potty training?? Maybe it's catchy.
I'll try this again. You can shop at Tom Thumb!
