Howdy, folks!
First of all, thank you, lovely ladies, for your fantastic responses to my last post. You've given me a lot to think about and I'm glad to know each and every one of you. Your insights always enlighten me. I'll respond to each of you in the next post, because your comments have led me to think about new things and I'd like to continue the discussion.
Second of all, I'm apologizing once again for my irregular posting. I've been in the midst of the biggest homemade workout ever--moving furniture and packing boxes.
Yep. We're moving.
This is a decision that's been a long time in coming and has actually been influenced by this blog and a variety of other factors that have led us to follow our hearts. We've always wanted to live in Texas, and the poll we ran opened our eyes and changed our thinking. We decided that now is the time to do it, and it feels RIGHT. So here we go!
Mat flew out to Dallas a couple of weeks ago to interview with LDS Family Services. They want him to work for them, they'll hire him as soon as he gets out there, but it's part-time work and not enough pay to move out for. So after crunching a LOT of numbers, we've determined that we can send Mat out to Dallas at the end of this week to spend two weeks job hunting/working. He'll fly out and join us at the end of the month as we drive out to the DFW Metroplex. It's a real step into the dark for us, and the thought of being apart for two weeks is not one I like to dwell on, but the whole plan feels right. We feel calm, we feel right, and we're moving forward in faith. We'd appreciate prayers on our behalf, of course, especially that Mat will be able to find work quickly.
So that's the plan. Life is exhausting right now, as I try to maintain a normal routine for the kids, sell off our biggest furniture online, and pack pack pack. I hate packing. If you don't see a new post in a while, please just assume that I'm mentally cussing at the moving tape that's gotten caught on itself in the dispenser AGAIN or debating between having the kids "help" me clean or popping in Toy Story for the 50th time to keep them entertained and out of harm's way. Wish us luck!

WOW! I am sad and happy at the same time. Even though we haven't talked in a while there is a bit of comfort knowing your friends are close. On the other hand, I am so happy that you are doing what you think is right for your family. I wish I could help you with the girls while you pack, but you know a movie won't hurt them one bit, especially if it keeps them out of your hair. IF you need any boxes, we have lots. I'll miss you!
Congrats on the big decision! We have done two big "steps into the dark" and while it can be stressful, it is also very rewarding to try something new, take a leap of faith, and see how things always work out for the best. Best wishes with your packing and moving!!! I wish I was there to help, but I'm definitely here to commiserate!
CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK!! Wow! Jake would be very jealous. He is tired of being in our non-permanent home, but I won't let us move for another year. Very fun! Good luck packing!
Wow. Congratulations! Change can be so exciting, but definitely scary at the same time. I'm so glad we were able to reconnect here and hope we'll stay in touch after you move! We'll miss you. We'd love to get together one last time and play before you leave IF you have time (I know how crazy packing and moving can be). So please email or call if you find that you do have the time!
I sure enjoyed hanging out with Mat when we were both down there. He's a pretty nice guy. It'll be nice for Kev to have you closer. I envy her and wish that someday my own brood would settle closer.
It's a leap, Kari, but almost everything in our lives has been a leap, and we have, I believe, been dearly blessed for our efforts, thought and work. I wish you well.
That's great you've decided to move to Texas. I'm with you on not liking to pack. I move places intending to stay as long as I can so I don't have to pack again. Good luck! We'll pray for you. :)
