Status Update--not much has changed

I feel like the title of this post covers our situation. Mat's parents are lovely people and letting us infringe on their hospitality for as long as we need to, so I think we'll be here for the next two years.

Just kidding!

The insurance company Mat interviewed with called and told him they were behind in their first line of interviews, but that if he was interested, they would call him in next week for a second interview. He's definitely still interested. So hurray for that! And his application for licensure is in with the state--the check cleared recently, so we know they got it. Processing takes between four and six weeks, and as soon as it goes through, he can begin counseling and accepting the offers that are open to him. It's a great situation . . . just a slow one. Usually is when you're waiting on other people.

The kids are doing pretty well. We've overcome the potty-training slowdown, thankfully. I'm trying to get the kids back into a regular routine, but we're still in vacation mode and it's been difficult. Well, and I got sick. And I don't know the town, so I can barely get us to the library and back. Excuses, excuses. Anyway, given enough time and a clear head, hopefully I'll be able to arrange something resembling a schedule.

I'm also in a crafty mood. Well, frenzy, more like. I'm itching to make something involving needles, thread, beads, possibly felt and fiberfill, very soon. My mother-in-law handed me a fantastic craft magazine today--it was very inspiring. Reminded me that I haven't worked out my Christmas gift list. So I have hammered out a rough list of what I'm going to do and what I"m going to inflict on whom. While I was at it, I figured out what Halloween costume I'm going to make this year. With only about a month to make it in, with everything else we've got going on.

But anyway. This is supposed to be the family blog, but I've been hogging it a lot lately. I'll do better once I'm back on my Mac, so I can download and post cute pictures of the girls, at the very least. I have one of Afton in her granddad's hat--it was supposed to rain pretty heavily today because of Hurricane Ike, but all we got were some drizzles and spurts of rain. Anyway, Afton was dead-set on going outside, so Granddad put his tweed fedora on her to keep the rain out of her eyes. Annika wanted to wear a hat too, so she got Nana's red felt hat. My kids look dang good in hats. They insisted on wearing them while they ate breakfast too. Be on the lookout for that picture in the next few weeks. Just for fun, I may post it without labeling it, just to see who's paying attention!

I'm off to finish the Bourne Supremacy now. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday, gentle readers!

A Crafty Christmas is so much fun. My Cousin has a link to a bunch of crafty ideas on her blog. It's on my sidebar "I believe in Miracles" if your interested.
So Ike didn't give you much rain? I was thinking about you while watching the news. Take care!!

I used to get that crafty drive the second it started to cool down at night in Autumn. I think the "used to" may refer to the good old days before my dad gave me all the rest of the ancient family pictures: so long needle, fabric, wood and glass - hello full time scanning, cleaning up and organizing.

Good luck starting a project. It's the best part of Autumn and makes you feel like the holidays are actually coming.
