My aunt said I should post this.

Here I said I wasn't going to blog much, and now I've blogged three times in three days. Something's backwards in my brain. Anyway.

So. Tonight. My mom was playing with The Eldest and Miss Bubbly and called The Eldest her "coughing kitty". Then she told The Eldest that "coughing kitty" rhymed. The Eldest replied, "No, Omay, that was alliteration."

You see, The Eldest has a hyperactive English major for a mother.

About a year ago, when The Eldest was playing around with word sounds, we talked about words that rhymed. Then she would say things like "Nine numbers, Momma! That rhymes!" I corrected her and said that words that sound the same at the beginning were alliterative, whereas words that sounded the same at the end rhymed. If I remember right, she played around with alliteration and rhyming for a few weeks, then left it alone.

But she is one amazing learning machine. How funny that something I taught her so long ago would come up now! I'm glad she retained that little lesson though--it gives me hope that this homeschooling thing will work out. I'm excited to teach her, but if I'm honest, my true feeling is excitement to learn along with her. And to uncover the methods of teaching Miss Bubbly best as well--she's so drawn to music and visual mediums that it will be a completely different experience. This is gonna be some ride.

Oh, and I love how you added my blog to your list. Aren't you the most wonderful suckup ever? :)

Aren't I though?

How funny that it was not I, darn it, who told you to blog it, considering my affinity for affirming the actual acrobatics of alliteration. Now, "coughing kitty" is technically consonance, but we will not quibble.

I was interested to find out they actually use the word alliteration in kindergarten! I guess, what else would you use? Good for her for retaining that!

So funny! She's smarter than I am. I don't remember all the English rules anymore.
