Games Children Play

Ok, the mailers are sealed, stamped, and addressed. Tomorrow I fold paper. Tonight I type.

Today wasn't all that exciting--I did my sticker thing, the kids watched tv, read books, played outside, and bathed, and Mat went to work and painted the exterior of the house. Routine stuff for us at the moment. So I'll record the girls' favorite games: Big Sister and Kitty.

Big Sister is a complicated game that I'm not included in. (Doesn't hurt my feelings--I'm all for the kids developing a sibling bond.) From what I can gather, Annika is the big sister, and when Afton feels like playing, she's Markus. (To Anna: I know! Don't ask me why.) They go into the room and shut the door. When I interrupt to get them to do things like eat, I've seen them tucking stuffed animals under blankets, reading the stuffed animals stories, the floor coated with toys, and I get very long and complicated explanations as to the story they're acting out. Sometimes it's a movie, but often it's straight out of their own heads. They can entertain themselves for hours playing this game. I love it.

Kitty is pretty straightforward. One of the girls is the kitty, and the other is her "humie" (human). They often use a necklace for the kitty's leash, and I'm often visited so that I can see the cute kitty and pat her head. Often the last one to be kitty (usually Annika) will meow instead of talking for what seems like hours after the game has ended.

I'll have to find something fun for us to do tomorrow to make for a more interesting post. Wish me luck!

The Kitty game reminds me of one I used to play with my brothers. They were dogs, (Husky dogs), and I was their owner. We went on MANY adventures in those roles!

As for you post tomorrow--my suggestion is to tell us what's been on your mind lately. :) It might seem mundane to you, but it's interesting to those of us out here in bloggy-land.

HA! I am just glad that when one is Markus that they are not climbing your walls and doing flips on your couch! Also grateful that they still remember him.
