Today I was offered a part-time job working with a small counseling agency that works with people who have been injured on the job and are in the state worker's compensation program. The company is based right here in Arlington. They offer pain management programs, group therapy, and individual therapy. We meet with the clients at their doctor's office as part of their doctor's appointment. It is a contract job, so my hours will vary week to week. But I am very excited. My internship experience as an oncology counselor exposed me to providing counseling in a medical setting, and I really enjoyed it. While this isn't exactly the same, my experience made me the best candidate for job and I hope it will provide a springboard for me to someday create an oncology counseling program of some sort here in the D/FW area.
I'm still waiting for the state to give me a license, so until then I will only be able to do pain management, but I expect to have that license in the next week or two, and then I will be able to start doing therapy.
So I now have some part-time work. I still intend to get a full-time job to provide some medical benefits for my family and have a more reliable income. I will let you all know when that happens.
Thanks for all your well wishing and support.

Congrats!!! I'm so happy for y'all!
Okay. I'm starting to see. Way to go. So many things in life we just have to keep slogging at -- like getting books published. You just keep pounding the pavement. And what a miracle it feels like when somebody finally opens a door!
