A New Goal

Since this is supposed to be a record of our family as well as a newsletter/bulletin board of what's going on in our lives, I should be updating it a little more often. So my goal this week is to write one post a day this week. You, my gentle readers, are welcome to hold me responsible.

Today I helped clean the house a bit, gave Annika her lessons (math is her favorite subject at the moment, since it involves candy and subtraction), and then my mother-in-law said the fateful words: "Do you want to take down the wallpaper?"

You see, my mother-in-law (MIL) is redoing her kitchen in stages. The first stage involves moving a wall and repainting the other walls. She found a loose corner, pulled down a bit, then asked me if I wanted to help. I *LOVE* doing home improvement projects. She ran errands for an hour and a half, and when she got back I had pulled down everything I could pull down, which was most of it. I had to use a wallpaper steamer on the last wall, which made it ridiculously easy to finish. It's nice to do a project and have all the right tools, too, like the steamer and a wallpaper scorer. By the time dinner rolled around, all the paper was down and thrown away, the floor swept, and all of the framing around the window to the family room taken down (we preserved it just for you, Jess!).

So that's what I did today. The girls played their favorite game, Big Sister, for a few hours after lesson, then had a bath. We did Family Home Evening with the whole family, in which I read a story from the October 1978 Friend. 1978, people! The year I was born, when dinosaurs still ruled the earth! But it had a great story on the girls' level on how words can be the sharpest thing in the world and hurt us, or the softest thing in the world and make us feel loved. It was a lot of fun to have Nana and Granddad and Uncle James involved. I know the girls loved it.

I'm blogging now while the girls are getting ready for bed. They're supposed to be putting their pajamas on, but it's been 15 minutes. It's about time someone went and cracked the whip.

Until tomorrow!

Wow, one a day huh? Sometimes I have to keep myself to ONLY one a day, and sometimes I have to stretch to get something new so my dumb posts will get scootched.

I love home improvement projects too. Nothing like a nice new coat of paint to make me happy.

You are ambitious! I'm lucky if I write one post every other week. I usually need to have pictures involved because most of my readers have no patience with more than 10 or so words clumped together. And then they rarely comment. Why do I bother? Oh yah...the whole journaling thing. It's all for me and my posterity right?

1978. Dinosaurs, is it? Hmmmm. I think that was the year I was married, actually. So that makes me - what? Maybe a thunder lizard. I just love it when babies think they are old.
