Halloween

It's been an interesting day. We ran a lot of errands this morning, including brunch at IHOP since the kitchen was unusable (the eat-in area was being remodeled and dust was everywhere. Also, they were texturing the walls). I had the stuffed French toast--yummy! And the hashbrowns were just about perfect, which is a rarity anywhere. This evening, I let the kids run around in their fairy dresses until right before we went trick-or-treating. Turns out that small children don't know when they're being gypped--we only went up and down the street, but they were more than satisfied. I really should post pictures. The girls really enjoyed trick-or-treating and weren't scared of anything.

I'm glad you guys liked hearing my thoughts. I'm finding I don't mind sharing them. How about that? So here's the dilemma that crops up every once in a while: Is it better to get things into a routine, or to keep them fresh and new to exercise your mind? It's comfortable to know what I'm doing and when. I like having things predictable, and so do the children. And having too many choices is definitely overwhelming. But where's the middle ground?

Ok, it's late and the girls haven't been sleeping through the night for a couple days, so I'm signing off now. I'll try for more detail tomorrow. *yawn*

Pictures please! Glad your girls had fun. We really only went up and down 1-2 streets also, but they were good sized streets and it was plenty. Amelia actually told us she was ready to go home after about an hour. Can't argue with a kid who knows when enough is enough!

It's fun to hear about your daily life in Texas. Thanks for the updates!

Yes, pictures would be fun!

I'm with you on the routine dilemma -- I tend to do the same old thing all the time because it's easy, and then when I shake things up and say, "No homework today -- let's play outside!" then the kids don't know what to do with themselves. :) Probably a little more spontaneity on my part would be good. Maybe when I'm not puking.
